When writing about a class I feel it’s always hard to remember everything you enjoyed about it so I will just write about what stood out to me as most memorable. One of my favorite things I enjoyed about the class is the open atmosphere. You always end up having some class where it is nothing but they teacher lecturing the class for the full class time and not including the student but not with this class. I really enjoyed that we were able to talk and discuss the subjects and things we were learning about. By discussing the topics through the class I feel I was able to really relate to and have a better understanding about the topics we discussed.
Some of the major things I learned in this class were how to write a press release, many of the tools public relations students need to know as well as a lot of insight from former students and how they got ahead and made the most of their time while in school. I really enjoyed the speakers that we had because they really stressed the importance of being involved and the right and wrong way to go about things. Overall I really enjoyed all the aspects of this class.
Class
April 30, 2010Favorite musicians
April 9, 2010Music has many different aspects to it and many different genres so I find it impossible to pick just one favorite album or artist so I have decided on naming my four favorite. Three of the artists are in the same genres and can be considered similar where as one is completely different.
I will start with T.I., he has been a favorite of mine since high school and is the most different of all my favorite artists or bands. He is my favorite rapper because I just really enjoy his beats and he always has a great bass to his songs. Along with a great beat his lyrics reign supreme, when you listen to what he is speaking about it just hits home no matter where you come from and that’s what I enjoy about him and his music.
My other three artists are Taking Back Sunday, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. The first has been my favorite new band since I was in 7th grade and their first album entitled tell all your friends is probably my favorite album of all time when considering every single track, from start to finish I have to listen to the album because there is never a dull or just ok song.
Now the last two artists Im sure everyone on the planet is farmiliar with and that is the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. While they both have very different styles of music they come from a relatively similar time period, as the Beatles were breaking up Led
Zeppelin was making a name for themselves. The reason why I love the Beatles is that they are so out there, nobody has ever been able to reproduce that type of sound and I think it’s safe to say nobody ever will. Another reason I love that band it the message they promote, the beatles
came from a time when peace and love were major themes and I really like that idea. And the last band is Led Zeppelin. Enough said. Where to start? The amazing guitar skills, the distinguished vocal stylings of Robert Plant? Overall they have to be the most amazing band of all time just because of there I don’t give a crap style of music they played what they wanted to play and what felt right to them.
Reality tv shows
April 2, 2010Reality tv has come a long way in a short time. When it first came out it was your typical reality dating show or Paris and Nicole terrorizing some innocent family. But the reality shows of today are largely based on unknown people and the real life issues they face, yes we all know the hills and many shows like it are fake, but some of the other shows do get messages across.
I personally love reality and as hard as it is to admit it makes up more than half of the television I watch. Some of my favorites are Teen Mom, 16 and pregnant, true life and as sad as it is Jersey Shore. While I will admit I do watch the pointless shows every once in a while I am largely into the ones with some sort of purpose, if I can even say that.
I’m not sure what makes reality tv so addicting maybe it’s all the drama or maybe it’s the getting away from your reality even though it’s only for a short time, but whatever it is I’m hooked!
My spring break
March 26, 2010For spring break this year me and a few friends went down to Orlando and stayed for the week. We did all the normal activities such as lay out, play in the pool and shopping but my favorite activity by far would have to be flying in a helicopter over our resort, part of Disney world, water parks and my favorite Universals Islands of Adventure because we got to see parts of the new Harry Potter world extension!
Aside from activities another favorte of mine would have to be the food. We got to try so many good and new kinds of food such as Greek and Thai as well as sone of my favorites such as seafood. All in all it was a great week and I can not wait until next years spring break!
past time
March 5, 2010As a normal college student I feel I have very normal past times and hobbies. I enjoy the usual movie watching, going out with friends and shopping. Scratch that I LOVE shopping! If I had to pick an absolute favorite it would have to be shopping, nothing like coming home and finally getting to use whatever it is you just had to have in the store. But beside my obvious love of buying things and spending money my second favorite hobby is going to be hanging out with friends. I feel like I have a great variety of friends and that what makes it fun and interesting and guarantees that there will never be a dull moment in my life.
My future
February 26, 2010I would like to say that I knew what I wanted to do during my lifetime and had everything planned out but sad to say I do not. I want to do many things maybe get my masters or go to culinary school or maybe even law school. And things just seem to get even more complicated from there like where do I live?I would love to stay in a big city, hopefully New York city or maybe just board a plane to Italy and never look back? I honestly have no idea what I want to do with my life or where I want to go,
Items
February 12, 2010This weeks topic we are supposed to say what object we could not live without and for me, like many others, it is my cell phone. Everyday I am constantly glued to it whether it’s the texting, talking and even sometimes the occasional game playing. It seems like everybody is addicted to them with all the facebook updates and constant tweeting.
Now as much as I absolutly love my phone I think it depends on what kind of phone you have, some of my friends think I am absolutly addicted but I think it’s just because there is virtually nothing you can’t do on a phone anymore! For example I am typing this blog from on an app that I downloaded onto my iPhone.
Super Bowl?
February 5, 2010So as I’m sure most of you know the super bowl is taking place this Sunday. Now I don’t know what you may think about when you hear the words super bowl but the first things that pop into my head are parties and the commercials.
Now the parties would have to be my absolute favorite part since I feel the commercials get more lame and unintelligent every year, but every year
Service Project
January 29, 2010Service projects. When I first heard the topic I was not too thrilled mainly because I have never participated in one or ever thought I would ever want to. I spent an hour looking up all the different kinds and discovered that as long as you have the time to volunteer, you will find a service project that interest’s you.
I thought about what I would like to participate in most and immediately thought of the Peace Corps. The Peace Corps send out volunteers all over the world to developing countries and have their volunteers live and help the people in need. Most of the volunteers go to Africa and send their time teaching and educating the people on things such as environment, health & HIV and aids.
In the end I realized that I have a little while to decide what service project is best for me, especially since you can not volunteer with the Peace corps until you have a college degree. But for now I think it would be best for me to start with smaller, local projects.
YouTube videos
January 22, 2010The videos I choose to publish were the ones I get the most laughs out of. I rarely use youtube to look up anything of any real importance.
The first video I choose was a real news clip shown in Alabama and I think that makes the video ten times more funny. My favorite part of the video would have to be when the news anchors show the clip containing the “sketch” of the leprechaun.
And the second video was shown to me by a friend and I still can not pin point what makes me like it so much. I really like how clean cut she appears and then how she transforms into this alternate character.
